Move to DC if you will work in DC.

WAZE or google during the commute time and get your true answer. Do a week or two to get an average.
Why haven't you thought of this?
Why end with criticism rather than simply trying to be helpful?
In Waze you can find the travel time for different days and times by choosing “Leave later” rather than “Go now” at the bottom after you put in the address. Where it will then say “Today” toward the upper right, tap the drop down to select a different day of the week.

I should say the people I know who make this commute make use of the time.
One takes bus / metro and watches Netflix or movies and the other two drive and enjoy the time as decompression (which I don’t totally understand because the drive can be stressful, but to each, his own…)
If you aren’t running late or have flexible start time return home time, it can be relaxing especially with young kids at home.
He leaves in morning, and can get to work between 9 and 1030 without much problem (call into any morning meeting if traffic is bad). Leaves work at 5ish, but his wife has the kid pickup, dinner covered, and activities kid shuffling - all he has planned for the evening is his drive home; so if he gets stuck in traffic, just chill till it clears. I did this before kids and it wasn’t bad, and certainly less stressful than BigLaw.

The Loudoun bus stopped right outside my office door, and those commuters got home in about the time I did (given I had to walk to/from metro and transfer lines). Plus they had nice cushy seats for the whole commute!
