OP here. No, no she didn’t. We tried two different reflux meds and studies with a GI doc. I hate ignorant comments like this.

I am an only child and had a great childhood. My parents have never revealed to me why I was an only and I didn't ask. Being an only for ME meant all resources focused on just me, so my parents could let me follow just about any dream I had, I was able to go to a private HS (our local schools didn't have the academics I needed) and they didn't tell me finances were a concern while looking at colleges (they unfortunately have to be for our current HS senior).

I really had the best of everything - on one side, I was an only grandchild, and on the other, one of 11 grandkids. And my parents always treated my friends as family, and I have friends that I am incredibly close to who I know will be there for me the way a sibling would/should be.

I have a great relationship with my parents and they are wonderful grandparents to our girls.

I think how well you do as an only is largely circumstantial. I consider myself very lucky in that I had a very loving and close family. My parents celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. We aren't perfect, but there was never a doubt that I was loved and cared for. My extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, second/removed, etc) are also very loving and caring people. I wish people weren't spread so far as I would like to see them more often, but we stay in touch and cheer each other on.
