We all are. The inflated prices create absurd closing costs, taxes, etc.. Out of control. Who are the people buying 2.5 -4 million dollar homes in NWDC?? 1.9 million in Bethesda?? Wowsa.

I commute to close in NOVA two days a week, wfh for 3. DH commutes to DC.

We bought a condo in 2014 and lived in it for almost a decade. It got too small (kids getting bigger) so we are renting something larger in the same school district to provide stability and a decent education to them while we save up enough to buy where we are. When they are grown, we'll move again.


NP but with little kids, it's very easy to switch schools. Mine have adapted to their new school VERY easily - they are in late ES.

There are a lot of kids in that cul de sac, two playgrounds, easy commute to DC, close to everything, and good schools (great community of people). Houses in the neighborhood sell very quickly.

OP, also check out Kingstowne. I’m not sure of current inventory, but commute should be better going east than Burke.

You're not priced out, you are just priced out of your preferred location. We have the exact same stats as you (but only $275 HHI, but same ages and down payment) are in VA and just started looking further west. Found a lovely million dollar 20 year old house in a great school pyramid, we are thrilled!!

Did it need foundation work?

The contractors I have spoken with are charging insane amounts for foundation repair right now. That, roof replacement, and electrical are what we are saving up for. Don't want to have a fire, either. Lots of those on the local news.


No, no foundation repair needed. No electrical issues, either. It is a solid house!
