And please people, for the love of god, stop with this idiotic lighting style.

The island’s “siding” is giving very serious Chip and Joanna Gaines vibes.

Modern shiplap

cheap finish. Good shiplap is vertical but more expensive to install

🤮 Good luck, OP, on selling this soulless house for that thriving Bethesda family.

Hopefully that whole family doesn't get together and "Netflix and chill," lol. Never ceases to amaze me how many people don't know what that means...

Kind of sad to see these homes demolished...

I actually really like it. Like the floors, staircase, molding. Large kitchen.

For those that say cheap finishes, what exactly are you referring to??

+1 Everyone criticizing the house, please post your address so we can compare your house with this one.

I hate my house too. I hate most new and new-ish construction. But with this budget, I’d rather have a 1920s Georgian in DC.

The builders and designers in this area have bad taste. New construction in other parts of the country doesn’t look this cheap and haphazard.

Actually, the opposite. This sounds like an agent trying too hard to sound smart. ChatGPT would have done a far better job. This is why people are so fearful of AI -- it actually knows the English language better than most people. "Ever thriving" is human stupidity.

It I the agent's job to make it sound amazing. The description is written for the people who would buy a home like this.

I agree. I love it. It is modern, has symmetry, and is a nice change from all the "white and black" trend homes being built (or old one's painted.). I give it a 9/10.

It's not really "an aesthetic," though. It's a bad version of a current trend that is bound to be short-lived, and then what? I can't look at this thing without thinking about the elements that are going to need to be redone, and the meter is running in my head.

It's really the fact that its a bad version that is ruining any hope of a sale, I think. I'm not big into midcentury modern, for example, but there are some really well-done houses that found people to appreciate them, and as the cycle spun around to a renewed appreciation, the good ones with responsible caretakers were/are a hot commodity. But the shabby ones that people tried to improve with moldings and whatnot were garbage and got torn down (often to be replaced with whatever is currently on trend)

Don't post a house on DCUM to look for complements.
