For her to be so randomly, brutally murdered is terrible.
There are very specific requirements to work at DKFI, so the teachers stay for years, decades, even. And people tend to send all of their kids their, so she was really close to some of the families.
This has been really hard on our kids - we’ve been given ZERO warning. There were news crews at school on the first day unexpectedly, and there was no heads up from anyone regarding the press conference today - so some of the kids learned their teacher had been dismembered that way.

It just doesn't make sense. 33 year old white guys don't usually randomly go around attacking 59 year old African immigrant women they don't know. Do they?
He was probably on drugs or maybe it was a random botched robbery. They already had him in custody on an unrelated charge so he was clearly known to the police.
Guys probably a serial rapist/killer, the dumping the body in such a sloppy way was kind of amateur but getting into a physical fight with your sig other and then going out and taking the rage out on the first vulnerable woman you see it pretty classic.
Classic case of brutal crime of opportunity. To me these are the scariest types, as you are correct, not in the race thing you mention which is kind of loaded, but in the randomness of it all.
But this is exactly how these random acts occur. Angry pathological male gets an itch and someone has to pay, so he goes out hunting and finds someone who would make a good target. For this lady it’s like the worst luck ever, something she’s done 1000s of times before without incident, except that day she crossed paths with a psychopath having a bad day, and of all of the millions of people in this area today she was it.

She disappeared July 29th in Greenbelt.
The suspect, Harold Francis Landon III, lived nearby in University Park.
Her remains were discovered in 7300 block of Old Alexander Ferry Road in Clinton, August 1. That location is right by Andrews Air Force Base, isn't it?
The suspect was arrested for an "unrelated domestic violence charge" on August 1st, the same day her remains were found. He's been in custody ever since.

Likely DNA evidence linked him.
Maybe? The news reports I read just said that they realized the man had been in the park the same time she was there. Nothing else to connect him to the murder.
That’s not accurate. His cell phone records show him in the park at the same time as the deceased and also at the lake around the time her remains were found. A witness took a photo of the suspect dumping the body and security camera footage captured that too.

Can they not make any connections?
What kind of connection? All three have been killed by the Greenbelt teacher's son?

“The Witness stated that the male then walked a portion of the pond and appeared to clean his hands in the water.” The witness also took photos of the man seen in the area.
Investigators later found surveillance footage matching the truck seen in the area to one connected to Landon. Police were also later able to identify Landon through the photos from the witness, court documents state. On Thursday, during a search of his home, investigators found several power tools, including a saw, the documents said.
