I mean, he was fine. I think you just reached "BEC" stage with John Mulaney. He needed to be awkward and adequate in a small part and he was both.

That 7 Fishes episode was epic.

Agree, except for the casting of John Mulaney. He stuck out like a sore thumb. Love his stand up work -- but he is not a good actor. He cannot blend with others in the cast and is a distraction from an otherwise excellent episode of television.

Can someone explain why The Bear is categorized as a Comedy/Musical versus a Drama for awards like Golden Globes and Oscars? It’s seems drama is much more accurate.

Why mom/jlc didnt come to the opening? I feel like i missed something there. And I love pete! Hes so sweet.

She knew she would ruin it if she came. And she loves her kids and hates herself and is just afraid that in this moment where they finally have something nice in spite of what an awful mother they had, she can't face going into the restaurant knowing she'll somehow screw everything up. She loves them and hates who she's been to them.

That 7 Fishes episode was epic. I am from a large family that “functions differently”, and so much of it was spot on. From the pep talk at the beginning to feeling powerless at the end.

I could not place the actress playing the mom, just knew she was familiar. I actually landed on Meredith Baxter, before the desire tk Google got the beat of me. I probably haven’t watched JLC in anything since True Lies, but I was BLOWN away by her in this role. She nailed every single scene she was in, and the ones where it was just her spoon coasting across the screen.
