Dolly didn’t just “laugh all the way to the bank.” She took the estimated $10 million she made in royalties off the Whitney version and invested in an office complex on a black neighborhood in Nashville is Whitney’s honor. She’s doesn’t just talk the talk.

She only revealed that a few years ago. Just fantastic.

I do remember hearing her say long ago that when she recorded her version (on the same day she wrote Jolene) she opened a bank account, and when Whitney’s version hit she bought the bank. 😀

Thanks, I didn’t know that about Dolly. Let’s hope Tracy doesn’t feel as though she needs to donate to the Sons of Confederate Veterans!
