I’m in Los Angeles and get my orders within 30-45 mins weekly. We pay super high feee for their gas, benefits, La la la la la etc. I’m letting you know up front it’s a no tip order, how can you possibly be upset when I tell you in advance??? I’m not tip baiting, I don’t put $20 tip and then change it to zero. I’m 100% letting you know that if you choose to deliver my order, you are choosing zero tip. What is the problem here?
I think the problem is that they are assuming/expecting that you will tip in cash. I always put in $0 as well, but it is because I tip in cash on delivery, which varies based on several factors.
No they aren’t, because my option is set to leave it at the door. I could not be more clear.
You're sneaky. You know perfectly well delivery people think you will tip in cash, but go ahead and play your games.
There's a massive difference between cashiers trying to exhort a tip when you're picking up cookies at your local bakery, and a delivery person bringing your food to your house.
Either you're dumb as a post, or cheap and exploitative.
How is this sneaky? I sat up front there is zero tip and I let them know in advance to leave it at the door. Would you prefer I tip 25% in advance and then change it to zero?
It is sneaky as my daughter briefly did it and orders pop up and down quick. The door dash app does this on purpose so person has limited time to see details. Once my daughter was pissed she clicked on an order that popped up on our town but turns out in other side of town. Was just a hamburger. Gas and time ment no profit. She does delivery and some 25 year old slackard in boxer shorts opens door grabs it from her while playing a video game with no tip.
It is irrelevant you put no tip as door dash tricks drivers into accepting. A couple of times daughter showed app and it will route no tip orders only sometimes. Or orders pop up and down on a moments notice of don’t accept you wait non paid 30/60 minutes
Drivers are being tricked or forced ti take no tip orders. My daughter only did it summer 2020 but a scam

I was recently postpartum and begrudgingly ordered a couple of DD/Uber Eats meals. The fees charged are absolutely outrageous: one meal whose ticket price was $50 became an $80 dollar meal after the service fee and the delivery fee, plus tax and tip.
Just get your own food or get delivery from restaurants with their own drivers. Stop enriching tech bros at the expense of these drivers - who are not getting paid equitably by their employers - and customers!

Meh, then get a retail job where you know for sure what you are making.

Those screens—and stories like this—never make me inclined to tip more, only to avoid situations where any tipping is expected. Eating out at a mediocre restaurant just isn’t worth it.
Just back from a trip to Europe where the service we received was 1000 times better than anything we’ve seen recently here, and no tipping expected.

DoorDash is kind of predatory towards their drivers, and they really need those tips to make any kind of income. It’s the regular business transactions, like a cashier handing you the stuff you just bought, that get a side-eye from me if there’s a tip screen.
However, this guy seems like the kind of person who wouldn’t tip well if the food were coming to his own home.
The guy is not wrong, if they can afford that house, they can afford to tip a little more. And the guy is no more "entitled" than the woman living the lap of luxury in her big house.
