If you have money it doesn’t matter if Japanese people don’t like you
They’re just passive aggressive about it so you can ignore them;
Labor is cheap so you can hire educated translators to help as hoc
Material/physical life is super high quality. Transportation, food quality, safety etc
It’s truly excellent if you don’t care to make friends with the locals
What is confusing is that most people on this forum claim Japan is a mess because limited immigration. They always say that we need more immigration otherwise we could become like Japan !!!!!

You’ve obviously never spoken to someone who’s fled Cuba.
From DoS Human Rights report 2022 on Cuba:
“Significant human rights issues included credible reports of: unlawful or arbitrary killings, including extrajudicial killings, by the government; torture and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment of political dissidents, detainees, and prisoners by security forces; harsh and life-threatening prison conditions; arbitrary arrests and detentions; political prisoners; transnational repression against individuals in another country; serious problems with the independence of the judiciary; arbitrary or unlawful interference with privacy; serious restrictions on freedom of expression and media, including violence or threats of violence against journalists, censorship, unjustified arrests or prosecutions of journalists, and enforcement or threat to enforce criminal libel laws to limit expression; serious restrictions on internet freedom; substantial interference with the right of peaceful assembly and freedom of association, including overly restrictive laws on the organization, funding, or operation of nongovernmental and civil society organizations; severe restrictions on religious freedom; restrictions on freedom of movement and residence within the country and on the right to leave the country; inability of citizens to change their government peacefully through free and fair elections; serious and unreasonable restrictions on political participation; serious government corruption; lack of investigation of and accountability for gender-based violence, including femicide; trafficking in persons, including forced labor; and outlawing of independent trade unions.”
You’re free to go, though! Great thing about ‘Murica
I don’t need to talk to anyone who “fled” Cuba.
Anyone who voluntarily left Cuba is simply a person of means who is upset that their ill-gotten wealth was redistributed to benefit the greater good.
We’ve seen the same type of people complaining about Venezuela in recent years as well.
lmao, no response on the human rights report? enjoy your new home!
And how could anyone complain about Venezuela?

I can buy our way into anywhere. Enjoy your red state misery, scumbag.
Girl I’m a Latina progressive in the DMV. Even my home country wouldn’t want you. My point is Americans are woefully ignorant of how hard it is to immigrate to another country. You don’t just show up and set up shop. The s$it is going to hit the fan everywhere, especially with the worsening climate crisis. When the poo poo hits, no is going to give a F about your dollars.

Why not Mexico or El Salvador?
Cuba and Venezuela are better.

Not even close. Crimes rates in Cuba are essentially nonexistent compared to Mexico. We were in Santiago de Cuba last year for vacation and felt totally safe for the first time in our lives. No guns, totally opposite of life here in the U-S-of-NRA.
Cuba is at the very top of our list when we retire and ready to jump off this sinking ship. If another republican is ever elected to the White House we’ll be leaving immediately. H and I just need to learn Spanish.

NOBODY outside of the government needs a gun.
Cuba got it right, and continues to be a model of smart policy.

Get a small farm 10-20 acres that is 75% wooded in New England or Update New York. Build an off grid house that has a cool cellar. Start a small orchard. Get a chicken coop. Start a large garden with perennials (eg asparagus, blueberries, raspberries, Jerusalem artichoke…) another one with annuals. Fence everything in and get netting for the top to stop the critters as much as you can. Make sure there are sugar maples in your forest bonus if there are apple trees. Buy seeds and seed starter containers. Build a green house. Learn to use an axe and to boil down maple sap. Make hard cider if you have enough apple trees. Eventually add a few sheep and goats too.
Buy books to read when you have down time. Learn to spin, knit and sew.
Nice fantasy but won't do you any good if the ravening hordes from NYC are hungry. Not enough guns on the planet for you to protect your 10 acres.
The ravening nyc hordes would probably not last 10 minutes if they had to milk a cow or chop firewood. Probably unless they were tough immigrants who can deal with adversity. They will get it work and be fine.

This is a spectacularly ignorant and I’ll informed comment. Wow.
