Big Ten only has 7 ice hockey teams (Michigan, Mich State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, & Minnesota) and needs an 8th team. Cornell would be a great addition athletically for several sports including ice hockey & wrestling.

Cornell University belongs in the Big Ten. Cornell has great ice hockey, wrestling, academics, agriculture school, and hires its presidents from Big Ten universities and would benefit from the Big Ten research co-operation (BTAA) = the Big Ten Academic Alliance.
With $90 million a year for athletics, Cornell University can develop a better football team.

Agreed, which is why some make the argument their (Pac 12 or ACC) teams don’t seem to be a good fit for the football obsessed Big Ten or SEC. Others disagree, fair enough.

Do TV markets matter for teams with woefully poor viewership? Empty stadiums and bad teams make for lousy TV.
Reasonable question. Depends on several factors. Certainly, Boston College is NOT being considered by either the SEC or the Big Ten--as far as articles speculate--due to lack of interest & poor recruiting grounds. But schools in SEC country where football is a religion offer great recruiting grounds.

GA Tech = Atlanta media market which also means better access to potential recruits in the south for the northern, more academic schools.

Georgia Tech offers a new TV market to the Big Ten (Atlanta & the South).
Once Georgia Tech joins the Big Ten, the most fertile college football recruiting grounds become more open to all Big Ten teams.
But, yes, this is speculation although it has been discussed & considered over the last few years.
Long ago, Heisman (Heisman Trophy) coached football at Georgia Tech.
If Georgia Tech becomes a member of the Big Ten, it can compete with SEC teams for the top talent in the nation during recruiting season.

The above is just one of many articles regarding the Big ten's possible interest in adding Georgia Tech.
If your baseline is the top B10 programs, then Rutgers, Maryland, and UCLA are also below the B10's standards. I could see Stanford (including its +1, Cal) and GA Tech being brought in to lure ND and, for Tech, to establish a presence in the Atlanta TV market.
But I am, admittedly, nothing more than an Illinois fan who is happy to be inside one of the two secure conferences.

Are you making things up? You cannot be serious that, for example, GA Tech football is anything like Big 10 Penn State, Ohio State, etc.

Georgia Tech is in the heart of the best football recruiting grounds in the country.
