I don't understand. I'm reading the reviews and many people are saying they use this in conjunction with their regular detergent. So is it a booster?

It’s a closely guarded secret, but all wealthy people add a few dollops of Grey Poupon to their laundry for that little bit of “je ne sais quoi”…

I think you are smelling expensive layers: shampoo, conditioner, body cream, face cream, cosmetics, lavender in sheets, closets, eucalyptus in bathroom, etc. And not everyone admits or wants to divulge the scent they use.
