This is the most DCUM Covid post ever

You guys really need help

This air quality alert is bringing out the Covid crazies. They are thrilled to have something to freak out and scold everyone about again.

Cavalier statements like this aren’t going to age well. In the western states, where fires are more common, schools and sports organizations have policies about rescheduling recess, games, and practices at certain AQI thresholds. I used to live in Hong Kong 20 years ago, same story.

If/when fires start to affect the east coast more, expect your k-12 schools, youth sports organizations, and universities to follow suit.

Policies are reasonable. Hysteria is not.

Where is the hysteria?

Um, Door Dash because running out to the grocery store or to pick up takeout would just be too dangerous? Do you think that is someone who is rationally assessing risk?

Um, getting DoorDash doesn’t qualify as hysteria. Did you not buy bulk toilet paper in 2020 or go get bottled water the next time there was a hurricane warning after Ivan? Ordering takeout sushi is a far cry from looting in the streets

Will likely get Uber eats for lunch and dinner so that we don’t use the stove or grille. Kids are bummed that their sports activities were cancelled so just going to spoil them by letting them have movie nights.

Enlighten me, why can't you use a stove? Is this the whole gas stove non sense? Because you allow it to pollute your home the other 364 days a year so is today that different as you sit indoors with windows shut, AC running and HEPA filters blasting I'm sure.

Yes, the serfs can go outside and damage their lungs...

Lolz

It really is the same thing as covid. It's so gross that service people are recognized as human.

These are the people who looove any excuse to hunker down at home. They truly thrive on it and are relieved when they have anything that looks like a legitimate reason to lean into it. Because it would be oh so dangerous for them to be outside for 5 seconds at a time to move from one indoor space to another. Nope! Better just stay home!

And why are people eating outside?

I went for a 5 minute walk and had to come home because I felt dizzy.

A lot of streets in my area are being repaved so I'm not sure how much is construction dust and how much is the wild fire smoke but I'm also bagging a run for some pelaton stuff. (I am not sure I'll do the same tomorrow though .. I didn't feel like running to begin with which helped today's decision.)

It’s entirely their fault.

Blame Canada.

Yes sorry about that.

But ultimately it’s due to climate change.

Either that or serious forest mismanagement -- ask California.

I just moved a walking meeting indoors and am debating about whether my kids do swim team tonight.

Our swim team activities are cancelled today.
