Oh man, another thing to worry about!

I guess we just make sure we only socialize with families who share the same values as us, and hope that's enough.

I was deployed military in Afghanistan (never left the base) and 2 people died on my base and several others received life changing injuries from negligent discharges during my 9 month tour there. One guy was killed by a ND from another person's firearm.

My takeaway - it's just dangerous being around guns. Humans are crappy at handling them, even when they are supposedly trained. My preference is that my kids are nowhere near guns. Unfortunately impossible but I do my best to minimize the risk.

We are a LEO family, which we don’t advertise, and we have guns. I’ve only been asked once and I was not offended. It’s loaded but in a safe.

Why are you so insulted that people who don’t know you would make basic inquiries when you are going to be in charge of their children? It’s really crazy. Do wear gloves to protect that think skin of yours?


Why would you be offended by a cocaine question? Just say no or whatever the truth is.

Some parents ask about medications or other drugs.

If your kid is going through my cupboards or purse you won't have to worry about what we have or not - your kid won't be coming back.

I know a collector who wouldn't tell you he has guns. If he doesn't know and trust you, he won't say anything about his guns.

They are kept in a locked cage inside of a locked room. Ammo is kept elsewhere.

I always asked when my kids were little. I preferred my house for the playdates if there were guns around. No guns = no accidents with guns.
