Conservative America has far more gun deaths than liberal America, study finds
A comprehensive new study breaks down how firearm deaths correlate to pro- or anti-gun control politics
A horrific recent trend of mass shootings has severely polarized Americans on the topic of firearms. At the center of this heated controversy lies the policy question of gun control: Should the government impose restrictions on firearms and other dangerous weapons to protect the public?
Conservatives turn to the Second Amendment to argue that the Constitution's right to bear arms is sacred; liberals will argue that conservatives are misinterpreting the Second Amendment and that gun control policies have been proven to save lives. The conservative rejoinder to gun control, of course, is that good people with guns can protect the public from bad people with guns.
Yet several recent studies have revealed the exact opposite: In regions dominated by pro-gun politicians, the number of gun deaths is far higher than in areas controlled by pro-gun control politicians.

You ever look at the breakdown of who is dying in conservative states?
Along what lines/categories?
Age/racial demographics.
If you did, you would see that in red states, most of the firearms deaths for whites are among older males as suicides'. Most of the firearms deaths overall are younger black males are homicides, at 10-20x the rate of their white peers.
It's a social justice issue that transcends which party is in power and which state you are in.
Red state citizens - regardless of demographic or wealth lines - die at higher rates and earlier than their counterparts in Blue states. Pretty much all of the negative trends are more pronounced in Republican run states.
If you’re a white wealthy guy in Alabama, you’re more likely to die young or violently than a white wealthy guy in Scarsdale. White women giving birth in Alabama have a higher infant mortality rate than their white counterparts in Massachusetts.
No one is impressed by white Alabamans who say “yeah, well the black guy across town is worse off than me!”

But I think we can all agree it’s almost always males doing the killing. What sickness has taken hold of American men?

Odds of Dying
Brief
Data Details
Your odds of dying from an accidental opioid overdose continue to be greater than dying in a
motor-vehicle crash
Fear is natural and healthy. It can help us respond to danger more quickly or avoid a dangerous situation altogether. It can also cause us to worry about the wrong things, especially when it comes to estimating our level of risk.
If we overestimate our risk in one area, it can lead to anxiety and interfere with carrying out our normal daily routine. Ironically, it also leads us to underestimate real risks that can injure or kill us.
It can be difficult to accurately assess the biggest risks we face. Plane crashes, being struck by lightning, or being attacked by a dog are common fears, but what about falls, the danger inside a bottle of pills, or your drive to work?
Knowing the odds is the first step in beating them. View the video for the latest odds of dying estimates. A summary table of some of the top causes of death is also provided. Please use the data details tab to explore all the odds of dying estimates.

Yes they've moved, because our communities have gotten less safe. It's not crazy to look at what politicians are actually doing vs what they say they will do. What, are we supposed to just be happy that they make promises to us at all? Regardless of whether they keep them?
Violence is spiraling out of control. They should be passing gun control or at a minimum, enforcing the laws already on the books. They are doing neither. I don't need politicians to be an influencer class that just tells me gun control is good. They need to actually do their jobs and pass the laws, oversee the enforcement, appropriate funding, etc.
The goal posts have moved since a couple of hours ago when a PP said, "No one is attempting to pass gun control legislation at the federal level. Not the GOP, and not the Democrats." This is just false. If a person doesn't think the proposals are going far enough or that lawmakers are doing enough to try to get the measures passed? Fine. Say that.
None of this matters. And you are focusing on the wrong thing. And it's despicable.
Says you. Democrats are trying to enact federal gun control restrictions, and they should get credit for that. Not just lumped in with Republicans as part of a nihilistic #BothSides complaint.
They are not doing enough. They aren't doing anything that will put a serious dent in this issue. And they are super soft on crime, disdain crime victims, and pretend that we should ignore crime because somehow that will help minority communities (which is clearly false). So they aren't stopping the flow of guns AND are actively stopping the enforcement of laws. You know this is true. You just haven't let yourself accept that they gave hung us out to dry.
You are just repeating a tired partisan narrative. Democrats don’t want to ignore crime and until you can bother yourself enough to learn the true opinions of people it is useless to try to discuss anything intelligently with you.
