Ha. No. GenX (53) and husband GenX (52). My GenX siblings are 55 and 57.

We are almost empty nest.

GenX is 1965-1980. The very youngest are 43 years old and the oldest are 58.

No, it’s just a transient area. Lots of people who live here who have close family & friend ties to where they were born.

Why would anyone be “sensitive” about having kids in their 30s, which is pretty standard?

Late Gen X and have a 3 year old. I had my only child in my early 40s after a multi-year fertility battle. I am aware that becoming a mom would likely have been easier if I'd been in a position to have a child earlier but those are not the cards life dealt.

My oldest sibling is 6 years older than me; her kids are 20 and 24 years old.

Most of the parents Ive meet at in DC school are millennials. The most notable difference I have observed has been in name choices -- more last names as first names (Sloane, Carter) or nicknames as full names (Ellie, Jack).

Some gen x are almost 60. The youngest gen x are mid 40s. So there may be numerous gen x on DCUM and that may be the largest generational group on gen x but majority of them are not “new parents.” Very few people have kids for the first time between ages 43-58, which is the age range of gen x.

If they’re older teens 16-19 she was in her mid to late 30s when they were born, not unusual in this area.
