I’m a dc-based lawyer with a high-stress job.

I wish I had a job like Rick Steves, Samantha Brown, or better yet, Cristina Cindrich or one of the travel influencers I follow.

Sigh.

I'm a teacher and love it and can't imagine doing anything else. If I won the lottery as nd had no need for a salary I'd still teach but it'd be private tutoring in that case.

I just wish my job paid more money.

I’m a nurse. Wow, I’m not at all used to the concept of healthcare administration helping people.

Lol right? That’s like saying the medical insurance execs are doing their jobs based on “helping people”.
- also in the industry

I wrote the ESG report for a large insurance company for years. It was so upsetting. Our nps scores were horrible. Customers hated us. And the employee health benefits are horrible.

Something with less people interaction. I am an introvert and I feel like I made a mistake choosing to be a speech pathologist. I should have been an accountant or a maybe a designer of some kind where I can work alone. I chose this job for stability. My undergrad is in communication. I would have loved a writing/communication career but those are so hard to get.I love animals but any animal career breaks my heart.

Do multi-millionaire sahw counts. Been one for most of my 35 years of marriage. DH and I are fairly low ambition people. We just managed to be in good jobs because of our educational credentials. No student debt because scholarships kept coming our way. Thankfully, did not choose academic career.

In finance here. If money were not an issue, high school basketball coach. I get my fix coaching the middle school teams year round for my sons’ private but I’ll miss it when the youngest one ages out.

I’m a psychotherapist but wish I’d been an SLP.

My parents, as lovely as they are in many ways, told me in no uncertain terms to aim low when it came to choosing a college major & career. They said don’t both with debt or years of schooling for anything that might require grad or professional school. I got on a career path that didn’t require either, and got an internship at a really desirable company in my field (not a “top” field) but they tried to convince me to turn it down because they said it would be too stressful & require too many hours. And they continued to express similar sentiments regarding various aspects of my life (“why do you want to move to XYZ, isn’t it so far away, why can’t you just move to ABC two hours away?”)

As an act of rebellion, I wish I’d become an orthopedic surgeon.

If it makes you feel better, it’s almost impossible to get into the foreign service

If it makes you feel better, I have seen more foreign service officers with imploded marriages, toxic personalities, substance abuse problems, and delusions of grandeur than I have seen in the civil service/general workforce. That is an incredibly tough lifestyle that takes its toll on many. Consider yourself lucky that you didn't know about it/do it.
