Divorcing wife, leaving kids behind, moving to a bachelor condo in Miami (rooming with his widowed dad), and then hitting the city on a random weeknight staying out till 2am.
PP who knew him, he seems to have gone thru a huge shift in the last few years, have you seen him recently — I wonder if the late night fun was sketchier than simply a hackathon in his mid-life makeover mindset.
It is terrible to post something like this. Blaming the victim is trashy.
DP I don't see this as victim blaming. Its adding more context to what happened.

See, this is the problem. In a modern, civilized city lots of people are out and about in the center of any city, look at Europe, there are tourists 24/7 in big cities in their “historic centers”. And here it’s implied that it’s dangerous to be out after sundown. It is somewhat true for SF unfortunately
This wasn’t the center of the city. It’s sort of a weird neighborhood near the water, lots of warehousey type buildings. Some have been converted to offices or condos but definitely not an area that would be considered anything near a city center, tourist center, nightlife area, restaurant center, or any of that.

People cN be so cruel.
It was 2am!!?? How many people do you think were around?
He approached a car with someone in it, they drove away.
Yeah, because it was two in the morning, and they probably thought he was a wacko trying to murder them!
Yes but it’s still heart breaking that person couldn’t render aid until the ambulance arrived.
Yes it's sad, but I wouldn't stop if a random person approached my car at 2am. Not a chance in hell.

To Friend of Bob upthread, I am very sorry for your loss. This must be utterly shocking and devestating.
Would you let your teenage daughter walk alone at 2:45 in the morning in a large city?
No, but this was not a teenage girl. This comment makes no sense.

SF is a complete disaster. Human excrement everywhere. I worked downtown there for years. Just revolting.
