My knowledge is direct from the family. Many conversations with parents about what the kid experienced. Nothing 3rd or 4th hand.

I take it back then. Your wording made it sound like you didn't know the family directly. Sad that the child had a bad experience but glad they are now happy. As some previous posters have mentioned, experiences can vary a lot between different cohorts. It's one of the drawbacks of smaller schools as particular personalities aren't diluted by a bigger cohort and there is less scope for social movement. That's the case in any school of that size and not unique to Norwood.

We are a family of color there and on the LOW end of the socioeconomic spectrum. I was worried my child wouldn't fit in but I've been blown away with how welcoming the school has been. DC has made many friends, is switched on and supported and challenged.

Norwood always has great placements

And many parents go back to public ie Churchill, Whittman & Wootton. Many move to Bullis. Norwood is more than a good school.

Probably is true the way things have been going for everyone else.

Norwood parent here, multiple kids, very involved.

I am happy with the school, as are my kids. On the whole, most parents I talk to are happy and see the many good things about Norwood. We expect our kids to stay all the way through because we feel like our kids are flourishing.

But there are definitely things I have not been happy about, I know plenty of parents who are unhappy with specific decisions or actions by admin and/or teachers. I know families who have left the school or who are very unhappy but aren’t ready to leave. I’m not going to mention specifics because it’s a very small community and I want to stay anonymous.

Sure but this can happen anywhere and is likely to vary by cohort. There's nowhere that will be perfect for everyone.

We’re in 2nd and 5th at Norwood and love it.
For us, happy, curious, hard working kids in a safety high school is preferable to ensuring big 3 for high school. Depends on what you value. And plenty of kids go to big 3 from norwood, but certainly not a guarantee.
