I mean... Catholic schools go to school on Ash Wednesday, along with the many feast days. They only take off on Holy Thursday and Good Friday (which I am not advocating for at a public school). It's like they don't even talk to the people who celebrate religious holidays before making decisions about whether to have them off. I have seen Indian people here post about going to school on Diwali being fine because it is celebrated at night.

Oh wait…LJ Cohen just added that one of the teachers’ unions liked the OG blue calendar.

Fritsch is opposing the amended calendar because the number of full 5 day weeks is dropped from 27 to 25.

These SB members are pulling muscles patting themselves on the back for coming up with a calendar with TWENTY-FIVE (25) 5-day weeks?! 🤣🤣🤣

Oh yeah. They care about educating our kids…

And yet, it is accurate.

Then they should not give it off. Make it an O day.

Amended blue seems like a big improvement to original blue. It seems close to normal.

Did we forget about separation of church and state? I wish they’d plan the school year with federal holidays in Mind only. I’ll figure the rest out.

You're new to FCPS, right?

The "vote" on a calendar is a complete joke. It's obvious from watching the board meeting that they prefer one calendar (it's the blue calendar). The superintendent decided to revise only the blue calendar on the day of the board meeting during which the calendar is supposed to be approved. If you revise only one calendar, then it's obvious what calendar you're going to pick. What a complete joke that they act like this is a "vote." It's clearly being decided by the handful of people who revise the calendar.

Purple was probably never a real option because it had 177 days. And the feedback was overwhelmingly against Orange and Green, so...
