She raised them from puppyhood. Later, a family friend came out to defend the way those dogs were cared for - they were not mistreated or neglected as was reported. they just snapped. There is a subreddit r/banpitbulls if you all ever need any other proof.
I have a dog who has some pit per DNA testing (much to my chagrin) - but she's fine. it's these full bred types that are scary.
there is a comment on this subreddit that goes into the medical examiner findings - not for the squeamish: https://www.reddit.com/r/BanPitBulls/comments/jrre99/pitbull_activist_killed_by_her_pitbulls_surprise/

I took my kids to the animal shelter recently to drop off some blankets and literally ALL the dogs there were pits or pit mixes and they were so loud and aggressive. My kids didn't want to go into the dog room, they were so scared.
I'm a big dog woman and I've stopped both volunteering with and donating to most shelters because they can't solve their pit problem and are often part of the pit propaganda machine. I think it's disgusting.
No Kill was cool when we were talking about an escaped Lassie who needed to spend a night with animal control before the owners arrived for a pickup, but it's ludicrous now. Bite histories distorted, lying about breeds, pushing pits as the ultimate family dog just to get them out of there, some spending YEARS in a subpar environment . It's honestly disgusting and negatively impacts so many people (not to mention the dogs and cats killed) who have to live with these dogs around them. And I feel for the dogs! It's total ahit humans who keep breeding these beasts, dumping them on the side of the road, trying to get 25 bucks for a pup, etc.
Trash dogs and trash humans. Like they deserve each other.

The foster pit attacked the other dog and almost killed it. the shelter took the dog back and told her it likely would need to be put down so she called Channel 7 to run a news story complaining about how unfair it was for the dog to be put down. In her view, he deserved another chance because the other dog had approached him. I was watching it absolutely incredulous that the local news was giving her a platform and hoping the shelter would not be pressured into putting this dog back out on the street. The said the decision would be made by today (Sunday).
I saw that story as well. Fortunately they euthanized the dog today and ended the saga. The dog had a track record of being unstable and violent and had already been adopted out and returned twice. There are way too many good dogs of all breeds to waste more time and money trying to rehabilitate a dog that’s a known problem.

Omg the comments on that Twitter thread are insane. Example: “Marley was discriminated due to her breed and not given a fair review of the issue in court. This should be concerning to all because discrimination feeds discrimination and justice should be for all. There was no need to hurry a kill before the announced date but to avoid court.”
I think you have to have a few screws loose to be a pit bull apologist. Also even if the little Yorkie was in the “wrong” for coming up to the pit bull, the appropriate response is not mauling it to death. I would be freaking horrified if my lab/hound dog killed a small dog just for approaching him. At most this warrants a quick snarl telling the other dog to back off.
Just as an FYI, the Yorkie survived and its owner accepted responsibility for the incident and signed the petition to stop the other dog from being euthanized. The whole situation was awful but if it’s going to be discussed, at least make sure the facts are correct.
