Our Realtor got us a great deal, so I don't care about the "gift."

We closed on a house a month ago and received nothing from our realtor.

Oh, wait, I forgot. We got a calendar with advertising. And she keeps sending us solicitations to use her services again!

Absolutely nothing from our realtor, Nancy Matisoff, and she got a commission buying our new home and selling our old one. Working with her was a disaster from start to finish.

I would definitely prefer a bottle of wine over a yeti.

I know who this realtor is... I, too got the branded yeti tumbler... wasn't expecting anything but found the tumbler very odd.

wow entitled much.

I have bought and sold many houses costing way more than $2 mil LOL it is a business transaction. Who needs a gift? That is absurd.

+1

I’ve never received or expected a gift. Wouldn’t mind a Yeti though.

Oof. Thought it was a Yeti cooler.

OP here - this is exactly my point. I wasn't expecting anything and would have preferred nothing rather than a tumbler with the realtors name on it.

You poor dear.

If I sold my 2 million dollar house with a Realtor and all I got was a branded $300 cooler, I can promise you I would tell every person I know to never use them.

Wasn’t that the agreed upon price for their services?

Realtors give “gifts” because some clients are whiny babies who will give them a bad referral because they didn’t get their egos stroked with monogrammed tea towels.

- not a realtor

No they give gifts because they realize their jobs are all but obsolete and that getting a 3% cut of a 2 million dollar sale for the amount of work they typically put in is absurd.

Then why do you agree to that arrangement? Redfin is right there.

Once we got a home warranty for one year. Another time, a gc for a nice restaurant. All the other times, nothing. No big deal either way. It’s a nice gesture
