Weird that you don't include a link. Here's mine. Last year's admission rate was 81%. This year's admission rate was 71%. Did you really think no one would call you out on your false information?

Grade inflation is real. Current students are no smarter than those of previous decades. In fact, professors often complain that students are ill prepared for college classes.

Look - the school is fine but don’t lie.
It’s not prestigious. It is fine.

You are remembering wrong. JMU was not rejecting 2/3 of applicants in the early 1990s. It’s simply not true.

NOW, it definitely has risen in prestige and is much harder to get into. Several of my friends (both in and OOS) have kids there and all of them absolutely love it. For some kids it was their first choice, for others they didn't get into Tech so they went to JMU. I have a 10th grader for whom I think JMU would be a great fit so I am very attracted by its rise.
I have also never met anyone who went there that also didn't love it. It just seems to have so many positives.
JMU is a good school and almost every kid I’ve ever known to have gone there loved it - but it’s no more or less prestigious now than it was in the 90s. It still attracts a lot of kids who would rather have gone to UVA, except now they’re not “just missing” UVA. The chasm between the two schools when it comes to admissions is much wider now. The typical JMU kid today wouldn’t have a prayer of getting into UVA.

While the admit rate overall is high, at our NoVA HS Naviance said the admit rate is closer to 55%. I hope my DD gets in. We liked the school. But she is not a walk-in and luckily already got at least one other admit, but I really like JMU.
+1
The admit rate published online, etc. bears no resemblance to the actual admit rate at various schools. It's become much more difficult to get in from NoVa high schools. We really liked JMU too.
