Del Ray wanted retail, restaurants, and housing but got a used car dealership instead.
Except Del Ray also did not want a multi-story mixed use building in that location so a lot of them may think the status quo is better.
False.
What happened to the Homecoming discussion?
I am not sure about that. A lot of people Del Ray support larger height buildings (ie the affordable housing waiver) …. except in Del Ray
No one want expanded height limits except developers and city council members who want to cram subsidised hosting everywhere including on school grounds!

Wilson will destroy Del Ray.
Why is Wilson such a big supporter of larger height buildings if it's clear residents oppose it? Is he benefiting in some way? I'm not political so I'm not sure how this works - can the developers fund his campaign or something in exchange for expanded height limits?
Dreams of running for Beyers seat in congress when he retires. Campaign funded by developers and national association of real estate agents.
That ship has sailed. He's mayor for life.
Anyone else find it amusing that VA-8 has only every elected rich old white men to Congress?

Thus many Del Ray residents supported the car dealership’s request because the alternative would possibly be a large building (which many Del Ray residents like Wilson would support elsewhere in the city).
(Personally, I am ok with the car dealership staying (long time business, etc).
