For those who have done Mounjaro - how much did you lose in the first month?

I received my first month's supply over the weekend and did my first shot. This first month is free but my insurance will not cover this or any other meds. My doctor said she would fight my insurance for me and she said she's had success with other patients who have my same insurance and type 2 diabetes. I don't want to get my hopes up, though. I could possibly swing paying OOP for a few months but it would make things tight.

I already can't believe the difference with only having 1 2.5mg dose in me. I have zero appetite. I don't even think about food. I also, so far, have not had any side effects other than a slightly weird taste in my mouth for about an hour or so after the shot.

No. They shouldn't be used by those who are not obese or morbidly obese is what my Endocrinologist told me. She said no one in the overweight category should be on one unless they've been on a strict diet & exercise regimen that was monitored.

I mentioned I was interested in taking something to lose 20 lbs that i've been unable to shed since lockdown & turning 40. She said, in her eyes, I did not qualify because those people like me who want to use something to lose a fast 15-20 are just going to gain that plus more back when they go off the meds.

I do very clean eating now and have since late 2021. Those pesky pounds refuse to drop off. She said I need to up my cardio & vary my workouts more. We shall see.

I’ve been on Mounjaro since October and I’m down nearly 60 pounds. It’s amazing medication.

I’d love to have access to these. Does anyone think they suppress the supply to make people want them more?

I just looked into this. My spouse is in the obese category. They were given a one month trial sample (2.5 mg) of Mounjaro and after two weeks, the appetite suppression worked and they were able to lose a noticeable amount for the last two weeks. Unfortunately, after the sample dose ran out, we found that our BCBS FEP standard would not cover Mounjaro for weight loss. So I did a little research.

BCBS FEP will only cover Mounjaro and Ozempic for T2DM or prediabetes, not for weight loss.

However, it will cover Wegovy, and Rybelsus (oral version of semaglutide) plus several others, for weight loss.

Your Primary Care Physician can wrote you an rx, go to pharmacy and pick up, start your weekly injections.

Personally, on Wegovy 4 months, down 16 pounds, 15 more to go

I think people are talking incessantly about both. My GP started me on Ozempic I think because of supply concerns about Mounjara.

Don't hold me to this but in my PCOS group the rumor is fed BCBS will cover some of these meds

I have CareFirst with CVS Caremark as my PBM - no coverage 😞

You should be able to check the formulary. My Endo said Cigna and uhc have been the only insurance covering mounjaro in his practice. Surprisingly since they are usually considered the lowest reimbursement, less desired compared to BCBS. I have no idea about Aetna locally.
