True, but it is bizarre how you always know someone went to Yale within ten minutes of meeting them. Idk what Yale puts in the water but it includes some sort of mandatory disclosure on the part of their students.
Not sure what's the big deal if someone doesn't want to give YOU the answer. Of course, you'll find out within 10 mins.

The drama is in your persistence. After your first post, it was a natural curiosity. After 3 or 4 more posts insisting there's no harm in revealing the name of college, it becomes stalking. The other parent is probably concerned about your mental health.

Oh your child is at Oberlin? I grew up in NE Ohio - gosh that section of the turnpike in wester PA with no radio stations is the worst!

Oh your child is at X school west of the Mississippi? How do they like it? It the distance difficult to manage?

This is a transient area and chances are high that someone you make idle chitchat with has a connection to the region, institution, or desired profession of your child.
