Our DC is new this year in 9th and we've had an incredible year: great teachers, who have been impressive for their deep experience and their genuine enthusiasm for the content and teaching 9th graders! There's been nice academic stretch, and inclusive and kind peers - lots of ways to get involved with the school. Our kid has never been happier and we're watching them grow in leaps and bounds.

We’re new this year to 9th grade and absolutely love the school for our DC. Friendly, inclusive, and since it’s a small school, it’s easy to get involved in many clubs and activities and sports. Academics are great. Just the right amount of homework. We also use the bus service, which has been super convenient and seems that many families use it as well. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but so glad we chose it.

Bumping this thread. DC is applying for 9th this year and really fell in love with the school during the shadow day. Obviously, we need to wait until next month for admissions decisions, but I am hoping some current families can chime in with their thoughts on the upper schools, specifically the academics and student behavior.

Kids are from all over. Many from Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville. There are kids coming from DC, Gaithersburg, Laurel, Bowie. There are buses to help get kids to/from school. For get togethers parents just drive them - it is what it is. In general kids don’t get together after school - in lower school and middle school they can stay for after care if they want more play time. In upper school they can stay for sports and other activities. Weekends are when you do the driving for play dates and hang outs.

Overall, the school has been a really good fit for our kids (wish it was closer, but we've made peace with the commute).
