For example, my kid who is literally off the growth chart for her age, will never be cast as "littlest clown" shes never the smallest in a group. Same thing, kids in the party scene need to look like kids compared to the company dancers. And they use the same costumes year to year, gotta fit the costumes to dress the role
So... The "good" roles go to short students.
I feel like the tall 4As might get some preference for Frontier Girls, which I think is a pretty cool role

Last Nutcracker there was an email sent after the audition that due to the reduced roles, more students would not be cast than usual. I kept it from DD until the morning of casting day and I'm glad. She was besides herself all day long, couldn't have imagined days of that.
