Rarely do girls commit on 9/1. Top coaches will express heavy interest to their top list but they don’t usually offer positions to girls without visiting with them (and their parents) on campus first. The visits are typically where the offers for the top girls are made. Most coaches will want their top prospects to come to campus ASAP (as in this weekend — Labor Day — so be prepared to scratch those beach plans if you get the call to your dream school). Look for the top players (midfielders mostly) to start making their decisions next week thru the end of the month.



With all the chatter on here, I thought the DC area girls were locked and loaded to commit to top 10 and Ivies this morning. C'mon, M&D Black already has one to UNC. I guess DCUM is all talk. Hopefully, the rest of the discussion on this will be grounded in reality.

I don't care if she plays college lacrosse, though if the lax coach can get her into an ivy all of these out of state tournaments for the past few years will have been worth it. Agree that every year is different. Capital 23 Blue had a number of midfielders who had quick offers after 9/1. It could be different from year to year. Good goalies also tend to go quick.

Remember it is a process and that process varies year by year. The top kids will likely have more options 9/1, but players get recruited from 9/1 through the following summer - and there were plenty of D1 commits for the 2023's this past summer. My advice is be patient. Most of the schools are typically most interested in the same 20-30 girls. Once the top girls make their picks, there will be another round of activity after the initial phase as colleges who did not get those girls want to fill their rosters. This can be a long process. Don't get too worked up about what happens on 9/1.

I will say this, my daughter is a Capital player. And to be honest, I am not rooting just for her Capital teammates, but instead, I will be cheering on all the players in the DMV area and wish them nothing but the best. Many friends on many teams she all I want to see is that the girls find a place that they want to play at. I don’t care about level or if they are ranked or not ranked. I want all of the DMV girls to feel successful starting in about twelve and a half hours

Only to Service Academies...


A couple multiple sports athletes too. Saw a girl who will play hockey and lax in college committed a couple weeks back.

But for single sport athletes, coaches can't communicate or offer until 9/1
