Anti charter people always have a nefarious narrative to offer no matter what these schools do.
Latin can’t win here with the detractors so they are carrying on with their mission and goals—which demonstrably include diversity goals and more robust outreach and transportation planning.

only because BASIS models attrition in its business plan
Regardless, Basis still has 40 more seats to fill, so obviously that affects the WL.
Overall, Basis is only somewhat smaller than Latin (663 students to 700).

29000 sq feet is not enough to host anything. My guess is they build out the house site, including underground parking, maybe roof top play spaces, but this is certainly not enough room for two full schools

I would think, regardless of your opinion about the space, an identified permanent space and collab with YY is a HUGE PLUS. I say this as the WL numbers have moved recently for both Latin (even main campus has moved a few when i thought that was unheard of)... we are high up and don't stand a chance either way. I find it strange BASIS hasn't moved in months (no joke).... we are high up so doesn't matter either way either too.....thoughts?
Yeah it’s funny Latin 1 and 2 WLs are moving but not Basis. In a few years Basis will be really hard to get into.
Latest WL movement (through June)
Latin 1 offered WL seats
5th grade - 6
6th grade - 1
BASIS offered WL seats
5th grade - 50
6th grade - 0
Also Latin 1 offered a few EA WL seats
5th grade - 5 offers made and apparently 10 more on the waitlist
Technically 11 offers in total, but no, the Latin 1 list is not really moving much. There've been no additional offers on the regular waitlist since early June.
-Signed #1 on Latin 1 waitlist for months

We have been in that building and on the grounds. Behind it is the parking lot. It’s right in the corner of North Capitol St.
I have no idea how that is true that there is an acre of land. I do t see much land/grass. The building and parking lot takes up most of everything.
Exactly. It’s a parking lot. At a busy intersection. No thanks.
Come on, the site will be redeveloped if the two charter schools purchase it. A high fence can be built the current parking lot will no longer be there.
Maybe, but there really isn’t a lot of space. Especially to share. I live nearby, I wish it was a better option, but it just isn’t.
??? I really don’t understand the issue with “space”. I think many if you have an extremely suburban mentality.
You must be new here. Shortly you'll hear from the person who hates Basis because it doesn't have a library or computer lab!
