Agree. They were either evangelizing or hoping to recruit OP into their MLM. Annoying and inappropriate for target, sure. I still don’t see the thread/scam.

If these people were actually scamming, they’d be way more subtle and wouldn’t be approaching so many different women inside of a TARGET

The specific story told here seems a bit far fetched. The use of Airtags to stalk women isn't. If you can abuse technology, people will.

Please think this through everyone. If you have a fancy house, criminals are going to go directly to your neighborhood to scope it out for a robbery. They’re not going to bother putting an expensive AirTag in your Gucci bag at target and then see where your fancy house is. There is no need for the extra steps, added expense, risk of being on target’s security cameras, or doing something weird that will attract attention and suspicion that will stick out in people’s memories.

It was explained above this post. You have an expensiveish bag or products. They figure your house is a good bet to rob. The air tags are to figure out where you love to determine if it is a good idea to rob.
