It may be easier to get into, but it’s nothing like UVA. My kids didn’t even consider it.
ouch!

University of Miami is a great choice. A little smaller, maybe 12,000? not sure about that.
Much easier to get into but not the name prestige as many other schools

Anonymous wrote:My DD is kind of in the same boat. Schools she is definitely applying to include (many already mentioned) South Carolina, JMU, University of Miami, UF, FSU, UGA and College of Charleston. CoC was a big surprise to all of us, but she loved the campus even though it is much smaller than UVA. She thought campus was beautiful and liked the school size (10k undergrad). She decided that proximity to the beach could make up for lack of athletic teams. Wake may also make a list, although I know they are much more selective. She did not like Clemson - too rural.

She likes the size of the school (or larger) the outgoing student body, location (not urban) and the school spirit. Need ideas for similar schools but easier to get into. They do not have to have to be in-state. She prefers a warmer climate.
A few good responses so far on this chain. And SO MANY bad ones. To put all the good responses in one place:
In-state: JMU & Virginia Tech
Out of state: Clemson, UTK, Bama, Auburn, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Arizona
Out of state but not "warmer": Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, Iowa State, Miami of Ohio
Really cold and kinda urban (and not an easy admit) but super outgoing and spirited: Wisconsin

Anonymous wrote:Tennessee had been suggested to my senior but we didn't pursue, not sure it fits your criteria but its probably easier to get in than UNC's main campus.

If out of state, that is not easier to get into than UVA.
Lol
Can't you Google? Can't you count?
class of 2025:
UVA instate acceptance rate = 28%
UF OOS acceptance rate = 22%
UF OOS is harder to get in than UVA instate.
That would assume the applicant pools are of equal quality.
