If you say that, then you have to agree that other states' OOS programs are even MORE of a "rip-off" (see UCLA and Berkeley). But of course your kid couldn't get in to those programs to begin wiht. Read and learn before posting

95% of DC's friends go to either VT or UVA.
There's a good side on this, but I wanted my kid to get out and explore.
DC agreed, and got lucky with one of the REAs.
Cost is cheaper than UVA too.
Villanova was on the DC's college list if REAs didn't work out.
DC's inteded major is Business.
If it came down to direct business admit to Villanova vs UVA with similar cost.
DC was leaning toward Villanova mostly because of the major choice.
(UVA business is topnotch, but you have to gamble getting into the program, and Villanova business is not bad at all)
Even for other majors, I would not think there's a big difference between a T50 Priviate school vs a T30 Public school.
Comes down to persoanl preference, location, cost.
VT is no where near as difficult to get in as Villanova or UVa. It’s more like GMU/JMU level
How is the number 53%(VT) anything like 91%(GMU)?

Private Catholics are the new “hot schools” for umc normies even they aren’t Catholic themselves
What will happen to an atheist in such universities / colleges

First, I love the subtle dig at UVA. Yea, right, it and Villanova carry the same weight reputation wise in NYC and Boston. Clearly false.
Second, OOS admissions to UVA are much, much tougher than Villanova. I have a good friend who has two sons going to school at Villanova. Both went after being rejected from UVA in state from a top NOVA publc high school.

Villanova has higher test scores than UVa
