Umm because they typically offer sessions for parents too? And if the sessions aren't specifically for parents, the sessions often provide valuable information that parents might want to know too, about their kids planned school?
Meh. Parents don't need to know anything but who to write the check out to. It's weird. Sorry.

There was a reception the night before for the parents (I’m not great at small talk so I skipped this) and the students went out on a scavenger hunt around campus (my DC went and had fun). The following day, there was a welcome by the Denison president (who is very impressive) followed by different activities you could pick. Students could also go to classes if they wanted. We were fed 3 times if we are keeping score. The whole event was really well organized.
Sorry, I hope that didn’t come across as snarky about the lunch! I like to be fed too.
Not at all! I was glad someone else thought that was a normal thing to include rather than going all Heather Chandler on me for mentioning it.
Plenty of people care and find the info helpful. Did someone hold a gun to head and force you to read this thread?Who the F cares about this?

No one thinks that the schools have to feed parents, but it is instructive how planned to program is and if they have anything for parents to do. Good luck to your DC!
Honestly confused about why that joke bothered people so much, and the accusations of sock puppeting. It’s possible for a post to be both helpful and funny, no one denied the former. I am the second lunch PP, and also OP btw, and think it’s great that PP’s kid has so many options. I started this thread bc DC has their last admitted student days coming up at a very good school but is leaning towards somewhere else. I was trying to get a sense of how often a good admitted student event moves the needle and why. This feedback has all been really helpful.
As for lunch/only person with sense of humor poster, a drink might be better![]()
Because it was at someone else's expense and didn't offer anything helpful. Snark is not humor. If you appreciate people posting responses to your thread, maybe don't mock them.

We had a chance to go to each major presentation DC was interested in, plus a study abroad session, dorm tours, and lunch in one of the dining halls. Fun, informative day. Still deciding!
Agreed, JMU was well done. DS made his final decision on JMU right after attending Choices
