But I can make that at home at not pay $18 for a pie that feeds one hungry person. I personally do not even think of anything in this area as pizza. Most of it is characterized by too thick crust and gobs of cheese and ketchup style sauce to make up for the poor quality ingredients.
I am also from NYC. The best NY style pizza I have found in this area is from Andy's or Slice Joint, two places that haven't yet been mentioned. I also like Wiseguys, but it's not quite as NY style (a little thicker) but still good.

I love cipolla rosa’s food truck. It is wood fired and delicious. I catch them at the Bethesda Sunday central farmers market but they frequent several locations through the week. Seriously check out their reviews. They are the best.

Don't get too excited. I'm a CT native and I've visited some of the other Pepe locations that have opened up around the Northeast. Despite carrying the Pepe name, these locations don't even come close to putting out the same quality of pizza you find in New Haven.
