My HS friend is in the registrar’s office there. It is beautiful on the mountaintop there, but it is *very far* from anything. It’s like monastic living.
There are several monasteries here in DC; you can live a monastic life anywhere.

Protected enclave in a city. Very similar to Richmond academically. I believe it should be ranked far higher but I think the location scares some people - although it should not as its got great security. I was really impressed by this school when my DD looked and was accepted. She probably not going as got into a school ranked much higher (and higher than Richmond) but it was her safety that she would have happily attended.
I love Fordham!
But Richmond makes me think of Elon.
My kid with a 4.0, heavy extra curricular, 6 A.P. and the rest honors, Catholic HS, was rejected from Fordham, family alum. It is not a safety school.
I'd love to know what this kid's college list results look like.
Similar to Richmond, but more selective so not what OP wants.Anonymous wrote:Davidson?
Anonymous wrote:Rollins (in Orlando) has a similar vibe but is much easier to get into than U of R. I can't think of a West Coast LAC that isn't super woke left wing SJW, which is not Richmond's vibe at all.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Maybe Rhodes College (Memphis) or Union College (NY), or Bard College (also in NY).
there is nothing about bard that is similar to richmond. nothing.

In the Fiske Guide, the Richmond overlaps are: UVA, W&M, Boston College, wake Forest, Georgetown, Chapel hill, Villanova, and Notre Dame. But those are all quite selective and OP wants over 50%.
