Didn’t read the whole thread but the solution is to provide just light appetizers if you’re worried about guests not eating the main meal. I also worry about that, so I stopped serving super heavy apps if dinner is close to the guests’ arrival time. If dinner is far away, then would serve heartier fare for the appetizers.

"Europeans" don't "snack," as in don't have appetizers? Are you serious?

Spanish tapas of all kinds
Italian bruschetta and polpette
Sicilian arancini
Greek saganaki
Maltese pastizzi
French crudités and escargot
Russion blini

I mean, this is not a revolutionary American idea.

Can someone open a restaurant and just serve this stuff? I’d LOVE IT SO MUCH

Question: Do you expect an appetizer

Answer: I don't, I serve appetizers at the table.

Um wouldn't that be "I do"?

So weird when people talk like the whole continent is completely unified when it comes to food.

Or anything else really.

No. An appetizer can be a starter, whereas a nibble is nuts or some such.

Nibble is such a grotesque word.

Would you prefer a nosh?

I havent read the responses so likely I am repeating but I always serve an app if I am offering drinks (wine, beer, cocktail). I would not want to serve alcohol without also having a nibble (and water) available.

It’s not snacking. It’s appetizers before dinner.

You must not be from Spain.
