"There are changes on the horizon, both nationally and statewide, that will affect Falls Church. For now, FCCPS will continue with the current plan. When the expected new guidance is shared by the CDC, it will inform the next steps for the school division. "
How is this cryptic? There are changes almost certainly coming from the federal, state and local (FCHD) agencies that will likely affect the policies. These changes could include anything from changing quarantine procedures, dropping mask recommendations, changing the metrics to use hospitalizations and/or deaths....I think they're in communications with FCHD constantly and so they know some of these changes are coming. However, if they were to say "We expect FCHD to change its guidance..." and then they don't, people would freak out.
So I think it's the most innocuous way possible to say, hey, we think guidance is going to change and it will affect how we deal with Covid.
It's a virus. It's unpredictable. New data is coming out all the time - much of it good and promising, and I suspect within a matter of a few weeks masks will be completely optional and there won't even be an opt out form. But is the school leadership going to say this today? Hell no.
