Colby for a match. Maybe also somewhere like Smith or Mt Holyoke, if a woman. Reed? Although it’s on the other side of the country of course. Macalester, if an urban environment would be ok.

Beloit has a strong Econ Dept, that could be a safety. Lawrence, Kalamazoo, St Olaf, Whitman. Not sure about the Econ options at those, just that they’re good schools.

Kenyon is not known for Econ.
Oberlin is well known for the sciences. It produced 4 noble winners, including one in econ.

Kid at Bowdoin. He's loving it. As a military brat, he loves the interesting mix of kids from all over the place, the welcoming community feel, and phenomenal educational experiences. It was his top choice and felt like he won the lottery by getting a spot there, however there were other schools on his list that he also liked: Davidson, Kenyon, Wesleyan, William &Mary, Vassar, U of Richmond, and Dickinson.

Bates has an openness and less sheltered student body than Bowdoin does. Bowdoin can be stifling. I think that Brunswick is better city than Lewiston, but the student body/professors etc at Bates makes up for it in so many ways.
