There are compelling theories as to why masks could impede speech and social development, and also zero evidence that children wearing masks in a child care setting prevent the spread of Covid, given that they take off their masks for half the day. You seem aggressively against the idea that masks might be causing delays - why such a strong reaction to something you can't possible know, one way or the other?

I could ask the same of you. My child has been going to daycare throughout the pandemic with masked caregivers. Her speech delay was due to receptive language issues and later a diagnosis of ASD. None of the numerous professionals we have been seeing have blamed masks and none of the almost 30 kids she has been with over 3 daycares have had any unusual delays. If the child is behind get them evaluated and get them the necessary supports instead of looking to cast blame.

My child is actually ahead verbally. She did previously have a delay that if I can attribute to anything it was being isolated at home while daycare was closed. Her language exploded when she started daycare with masked caregivers. So no, much as you would like, this is not about me. I can just recognize that masking young children may impact some children, whether it be their speech or social skills, and I have yet to see any information explaining how 2 year olds wearing masks for half the day prevents the transmission of Covid. So why are we doing it? Speech and social development in the early years is really important.
