It's not going to be virtual learning, thank goodness. It's a two-day extension of winter break. I can live with that, but we don't need childcare. It will certainly creates childcare issues for many, while giving others the opportunity to extend their vacations. So I doubt it will do much in terms of Covid prevention.

You all need to learn the difference between quarantine (not required for vaxed people who get exposed unless they find out they are positive) and isolation (required for anyone, vaccinated or not, who tests positive). It's actually useful to have two different terms to avoid the confusion of the first PP.

You mean "isolation". It's not called a "quarantine" if you have tested positive. Quarantine is for people who are exposed and don't know yet if they are infected. It's possible that even the urgent care misused the term.

Yes that’s the problem, if we mean the same thing. They will catch cases but generate new ones by forcing people into less desirable childcare solutions. These kids aren’t quarantining. School is the safest place for children.

That is exactly what I meant. This is a big undertaking that is unlikely to move the needle. Sure it will catch some cases, but unless people are forced to come home a few days in advance from travel and isolate during the testing period, it’s like trying to empty the beach of sand one bucket at a time. And in the interim making life even harder for those already hardest hit. While also not really creating any mandatory requirement of the people who have never sacrificed to begin with.

Yup im putting my pre k student into back up daycare for two days. I can't swing additional time off of work.

If this was test to return I would say too bad this is more important. But this is some shame of an idea.

It doesnt sound like kids are required to take them. So its not really a test to return (or stay for that matter). Repsonsible parents will do it but the rest...I wouldnt count on it.

Ahhh, sorry pp here. I misread the timing - thought she tested positive early last week
