And DCUM is filled with parents of kids who took the actual SAT before junior year (or very early) as a junior but my kid’s school advises waiting until later junior year bc they often get a bump bc of the curriculum they learn junior year. Just another perspective.

Mine got a 1050. His UW GPA is a 3.2 from a private school. Weighted is maybe 3.3.

My kid got a 1000 but he is 2E. Might do test prep over the summer since he doesn't have any other plans. I thought he'd get a lot higher based on his IQ testing.
I mentioned above that my freshman got an 1120-- he's 2e as well. I think test prep could really help-- especially if you're dealing with slower processing speed and anxiety. We're definitely doing some test prep over the summer, especially for the harder to finish sections.
Thanks, this was a 10th grader. Hopefully things will get higher as he gets more used to the formats! I think the anxiety was the issue. He gets extra time but I’m not sure they need it, it might actually hurt them because he gets bored waiting.

Her older sister got a 1450 on SAT, so yeah, it's a contrast.
This is fine. She'll do some prep and get into the best college she can that fits her. She'll be just fine.

Thank you for posting this PP. Similar score for our junior and she is not happy this morning (also not a great test taker). I imagine that her mood will not improve once she starts comparing scores with friends who are naturally good at tests.

I feel good about that, but I see some test prep in their future this summer. 99% percentile in reading/writing and 92% in math. Math actually came up a lot since last year, so I think with some more preparation, their score could go up quite a bit more. I don't know like 1550 high, though. It's kind of crazy that it's 97%, and I'm not sure whether to be disappointed?????
Is your child in grade 10?
Mine is in grade 11 and was low 1400s and I think was 97th percentile. [/quote
No way 1280 is 97 percentile for a junior.
I think something is off about the percentages. My neighbor’s daughter got an 1170 and it says 89%. That’s hard to believe.
I'm the above poster with an 11th grader. I suspect your neighbor's daughter is a freshman, like the child with 1280 is a 10th grader.
For those with kids in grades 9 and 10, the math on the PSAT/SAT is up through Alg 2. If your child hasn't taken yet or has just started it this year, it will greatly affect their scores. Meaning, they will definitely improve!

My kid received an 1170. Not up to DCUM standards but still perfectly acceptable.
Our sophomore got an 1150. Decent. Hoping with prep he can get an SAT of 1350+.
