Of course! The alternative is to fire him, still pay him $$$$$, and have your stock tank.

Over 100+ people at my job (Fortune 100 corporation) were laid off last month via a video meeting, as we are still wfh remotely. It was very awkward and shocking to everyone. I am so glad it didn’t happen in person, as many of my colleagues immediately became very emotional.

This was my first layoff and it sucks. So many emotions surfaced that I wasn’t even expecting. But now that I’m on the other side of it, I know that I’ll be okay. I hope there are better opportunities waiting for these 900 people being laid off. So many layoffs happening right now, most you will never hear anything about. Many companies are quietly offloading employees before 2022 gets here.

My advice is be ready for anything, and build your savings. Keep your resume and network up to date. Tell yourself it’s not IF you ever get laid off but WHEN. Be ready.

So do we think SoftBank learned from WeWork?

There were some conflict of interest issues, lawyers about to get excited

CEOs in general are way overpaid. Many of them are just ok or end up seriously harming the company with limited or no repercussions.
Yet, people are obsessed with complaining about how teachers are overpaid. And we cannot manage to pay decent wages to child care workers. I wonder about our collective values sometimes. I bet the Better CEO will be forced to resign.

Better is all over the news and not in a good way. The CEO was posting on an anonymous message board that employees were fired for working 2h per day but he didn’t have a shred of evidence to back up his claims. Wow! He sounds unhinged.

Well yeah, he just received $100ms of cash, he’s on vacation.

No. He is on a leave of absence. I wonder if board will fire him. He apparently also got in a fight with a couple people at the private equity company that has a significant stake in Better.

Oh know he maybe unemployed with half a billion dollars of wealth, that will show him.

I hope people realize that companies have no loyalty to workers. Don't sacrifice your life for a job working for a company that would axe you in a minute regardless of your dedication.

My standards are extremely low such as you pay $$$ and I work. Even then I still run into petty politics at my low level and gets kicked to the curb when their fav underlings need credit for their promotion.
