When I do enjoy life most… traveling or not is when I meet interesting people.
I’ve travelled 7 times this year but the thing I like most is meeting people. I tend to do that when I go places, doesn’t matter where I go every place has interesting people.
Traveling in Europe became tolerable once I established a no-museums-castles-or-cathedrals rule.
What’s the point, then?

Op, you and I have very similar views. I am the pp who canceled last-minute vacation plans, and I am instead redoing my powder room. My logic was that I'd get more long-term use from enjoying the powder room over a trip to Maine. I do still plan to go to Maine, but I am waiting for it to warm up more.

Np, and wow, I was literally just thinking this earlier. I am on leave this week and had considered traveling, but I changed my plans last week. I had my house built 2.5 years ago and adore everything about being in it; it is my favorite place to be.
Plus, since Covid, I am super squeamish about hotels and cleanliness and have a hard time relaxing in a bed that thousands have slept and humped in.

I know two people who brag about having "sh!tty" (their word) houses because they want to spend their money on travel.
I get it!
I love to travel. And I have a great house that I'm thinking of putting up for one of those home exchanges (it's close in, near the metro, four bedrooms).
