The MSRP for a new 2022 Toyota Highlander is 35k. I’m not sure how even off the lot you’d end up paying 60k unless you are choosing the highest trim level or something like that.

This is why I buy good used vehicles. I paid 5200 bucks cash for an awesome car in May, 2020, have put thousands of miles on it since then, and I expect it to last me a lot longer than 5 years. I refuse to have a car payment.

Also agree. Paid $45k out the door for a new Odyssey Touring (not the top trim, but I think second most expensive) a couple months ago. Traded in our 10-year old Odyssey for half the price we paid for it new 10 years ago. So net cost was less than $20k.

I call BS. The MSRP on 2021 AWD XLE is $41K+. If you bought the car in VA, you would have had to pay approx $33,000 + tax, title, fees. There is no way you got a $8,000 discount off MSRP right now, unless you forgot to mention a trade in or downpayment.

I'm in the market and just want to know where. Highlanders are one of the cars that we're looking at and getting anything more than a token amount off of MSRP seems hard right now.

The sure fire way to settle this - is to post your sales contract. Redact your personal info. Until you do so, its BS. People in the south drive SUVs. I doubt they have a glut of inventory that would justify an $8000 discount on a brand new car.

Still think this is BS. I live in the South too. We’ll just have to not believe each other.

I live in TX and have been looking for cars for DS. I’ve seen 2018 Highlanders for $35k but not newer ones.

OP, I have always been in the “low-income” bracket.

I have NEVER had a brand spanking new ride.
But if I could afford to - I would definitely buy new over used.

Because all used vehicles have a history.
Either good or bad.
It’s like a crapshoot.

You can possibly get a great bargain in the long run.
Or you may just inherit another person’s headache.
It’s like a financial gamble.

At least w/a brand-new car you do not have to be stressed over if it will start up every morning.
You cannot attach a price tag on peace of mind. 😄

There is no rule saying you have to get the loaded one. If you do get the loaded one, it comes with the loaded price, obviously.
