That's not how trials work though. You don't get to present evidence just because it might "make the jury feel something." It has to be relevant to the questions before the jury. Also, the judge will weight the relevance of a piece of evidence against its likelihood of prejudicing the jury (swaying them unfairly with extraneous and irrelevant detail) and given Taylor's fame level, it's very unlikely that Lively would find anything she has to offer (or even evidence that mentions her) to be relevant enough to overcome the possible prejudice that bringing her into the case could cause.

I disagree because what I've noticed is that in the last few weeks, the vast majority of people I know have totally moved on from this whole controversy and don't care one way or the other. They are not breathlessly reading Taylor's rep's comments on TMZ and they certainly aren't following the legal case.

By the time the trial rolls around, I think most people are going to be like "is this still happening? what?" And as a result, whatever the outcome of the case is, that's what they'll believe. Especially since the case will not be televised or streamed, there won't even be cameras in the court room so the most you're getting are reports from a handful of news agencies (no tabloids will be allowed in the courtroom, so unless TMZ can snag one of the handful of seats for the public, most of the reporting will be straight up and not sensationalized) and some court sketches.

Sure, the people obsessing over this case (including me) may not be persuaded by a court ruling either way. But the average person? Absolutely. It will be one round of headlines that either says "Lively loses sexual harassment and retaliation claims" or "Lively prevails in sexual harassment case against former director" and people will be like "okay I guess that's that."

Which goes to show that people really don't believe Blake was sexually harassed.

So, Taylor being a witness is not at all even remotely the point. The whole point of bringing her into this is so they could get a statement like this from Taylor’s camp, which is absolutely humiliating to Blake.

But Blake wasn’t traditionally liked before this. She wasn’t really sought after for movies, her lifestyle brand failed, her campaign for Barbie didn’t work and then she tried to do another lifestyle brand off Barbie and Mattel sent a cease and desist lol

Her friendship with Taylor was really good for her. And now that appears to be gone. truthfully it seemed to be failing before this, because it doesn’t seem like Taylor was the godmother to their two year-old. And even before this controversy she didn’t say anything about when it ends with us came out, even though she had her song in the movie. She’s pretty congratulatory to her girlfriends when they have a big project so that was telling.

This makes it seem like Blake is a liar though, and I think that’s why Taylor is so pissed. Blake clearly used her for the rooftop scene, to get in the good graces of Isabella, and the rumor that the composer was fired because of Taylor -now it looks like it was Blake since Taylor‘s camp is saying she was literally not involved in this movie at all except for lending her song. It seems like she used Taylor throughout this movie to get what she wanted. Taylor has finally clued into that means Taylor’s fans clued into that and that’s not going to do Blake any favors.

I don’t disagree that a lot of people simply will not care about this case, but I don’t think it’s going to help Blake, and I think since she was kind of hurting publicly anyway, it likely means that she will just be off fade off into the sunset after it wraps.

Obsessives like us will probably follow via twitter (InnerCityPress covered previous hearings and he is very thorough), but regular people will read reports funneled through NY Times and picked up by other media outlets. Legacy media is more friendly to Lively obviously. There won't be video clips of a terrible cross exam of anyone. Will be interesting to see how the pro-Baldoni TikTok and YouTube crowd cover it.

I haven't read this Swift story so I don't know what's going on, but Swift was in the middle of the Eras tour in summer and fall of 2024. If Taylor Swift didn't watch a movie during her Era's tour for several months, that's probably okay. Gets a pass.

If Team Baldoni thinks Swift is going to be a good witness for Baldoni, they might want to think harder. Swift sees right through what Freedman is doing and her rep says this: "This document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift's name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case." I don't know how Swift feels about Lively, but if Baldoni thinks Swift is going to like him more than she likes Lively, he'd better prepare himself for a cruel summer.

Ironic because it was Blake who used her friend's name for leverage to coerce and threaten a director to give in to her demands. I'm pretty sure Taylor is none too pleased with either party. That low key "didn't see my best friend's film until weeks later" shade made that transparent.

As another poster said she could’ve easily said she wasn’t at the premier but saying she didn’t see the movie for weeks is a pretty low blow. Saying that she was not involved in casting decisions, that’s going to bite Blake in the ass because now she’s caught in a blatant lie in front of the world. She had young Lily stand on the red carpet and say that Blake told her that Taylor helped cast her. I can pretty much guarantee that’s one of the way she blew smoke up Isabella’s butt - and got her on her side. Lured her in with Taylor.

I’m betting the cast saw through this pretty quickly after Baldoni got his side of the story out and that explains the end of their support.

I disagree because what I've noticed is that in the last few weeks, the vast majority of people I know have totally moved on from this whole controversy and don't care one way or the other. They are not breathlessly reading Taylor's rep's comments on TMZ and they certainly aren't following the legal case.

By the time the trial rolls around, I think most people are going to be like "is this still happening? what?" And as a result, whatever the outcome of the case is, that's what they'll believe. Especially since the case will not be televised or streamed, there won't even be cameras in the court room so the most you're getting are reports from a handful of news agencies (no tabloids will be allowed in the courtroom, so unless TMZ can snag one of the handful of seats for the public, most of the reporting will be straight up and not sensationalized) and some court sketches.

Sure, the people obsessing over this case (including me) may not be persuaded by a court ruling either way. But the average person? Absolutely. It will be one round of headlines that either says "Lively loses sexual harassment and retaliation claims" or "Lively prevails in sexual harassment case against former director" and people will be like "okay I guess that's that."
