It’s so rude and presumptuous really, since she herself chooses to go by Hatmaker. (Personally i think the quirkiness of the Hatmaker name is one of the things that contributed to her rise to “fame”. Would things have gone the same as Jen King? We’ll never know.)
Right- it's like calling her JLK is his special nickname for her. Almost like someone wishing they knew you before you had kids. But when you date someone with kids, sorry, but they will always come first. They didn't ask you to come into their lives.
I'm still astounded at the engagement on her last post- was that really 28k? That's got to be one of her highest-traffic posts this year.
Yes, the Hatmaker moniker likely contributed greatly to her success as an author- I certainly noticed it 14 years or so when I first read about one of her Bible studies on a website. Her quirky name mirrored her unique take on being a contemporary Christian. It worked.

Her slides are heartfelt but is she going to do anything to remedy any of it? Being part of a community means not getting your way all the time. Does she even WANT to be a better mom to Remy? All these slides lack any real desire to do or be better, and her life is devoid of any real peace.

What I found telling about the inner child slideshow was…you feel lonely financially, and yet you’re in a multi-year relationship with someone you profess to love and is the best thing ever. The fact that she knows she can’t rely on him

100%!!! Meanwhile she’s very happy to run around the world, going on cruises, seeing Broadway shows, doing MeCamps, etc.
If Hen is truly terrified of finances and not just trying to shill her MeCourse would she be living “large”???

And everything else is now so intertwined with that “big” life that she’s trapped — her identity, her self esteem, her ability to support herself financially, her “relationship”. I really like her post from last night. It's six slides, with the background being an awkward photo of her as a child. She gives a look into her internal thought process. She admits she scared about money, worries about her weight and size all the time, questions her parenting, feels lonely financially, and sometimes wishes she had a smaller life. I feel like it was the most honest thing she's written in a long while. Only thing that would have made it better would be a slide/comment on her weird fake relationship. Such as, ' I sometimes wonder why I'm in a relationship where he doesn't want to live near me or claim me publicly or marry me'.
