The Democrat bill has a provision specifically eliminating the provision from the Trump budget that removes illegals. This has nothing to do with expiring of the temporary additional ACA subsidies.Anonymous wrote:MAGA believing Trump’s lies again. No, this shutdown is not Dems demanding free healthcare for “illegals”. We’re trying to protect all AMERICANS, and those here legally, from skyrocketing healthcare costs. That’s it. When will MAGA finally see that Trump DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU? Only himself and his mega wealthy friends. If you are still falling for his blatant lies, you are severely uneducated and uniformed.

Well Republicans are in control of everything- house, congress, presidency and courts. Why are the republicans not to blame? This is like saying the voters in the US are not responsible for Trump,
The American electorate is absolutely responsible for the garbage leadership we've had since Obama left office. Each and everyone of us needs to stop the finger pointing, take a long look in the mirror, and promise to take our voting privileges more seriously going forward.
There's zero correlation between what voters want and what our representatives actually make happen. Study after study shows this. The correlation exists only for donors. Our government has not belonged to We the People for a long time.
Voting didn't cause this, money in our politics caused this. Capitalism and the ruthless pursuit of profits caused this. And it won't get better until we as a society decide 1) that there are things more important than money, and 2) that the money hungry sociopaths currently running our society must be stopped. Until we can all agree on those 2 points, things will continue to spiral downward.
The MAJORITY of the problems in American politics are due to Citizens United in which the Republican Justices on the Supreme Court tilted political influence toward wealthy donors and corporations by enabling corporations and other outside groups to spend unlimited money on elections.
Then as more Republicans gained office through support from this dark money, those Republicans working to deregulate every protection the American populace had against the influence of the wealthiest individuals and corporations. For instance, a Republican-lead FCC relaxed Media Ownership rules which helped the richest Americans further spread their influence by broadcasting propaganda and lies to convince the uneducated and disaffected to Vote against their own financial interest.
Thats where it all started - the Supreme Court. And that’s the government body which today continues to cause the most damage by refusing to uphold the Constitution, precedent, and the rule of law.
You're correct about where this out of control problem started but unfortunately we can't go back in time to stop CU from happening and we certainly know the corrupt politicians of our major political parties aren't going to do anything to stop the money from coming in.
All we can do now is address the situation at hand with two corrupt and dysfunctional political parties running our Federal Government. What can we do to either force complete overhaul and reform on them or to have them shut down so we can start from scratch? That is the question we must find an answer to.
If there were enough people in Congress who had a spine and a conscience, they could rein Citizens United in - by putting strict limits on how much individuals and organizations can donate, per candidate, per cycle, by requiring disclosure and transparency for PACs and SuperPACs, and by banning candidates from coordinating with outside groups.

If you have nothing substantive to add to a very important conversation about the dysfunction of our Federal Government, you can take your low IQ MAGA arse for a long walk off of a short pier.
I'm a DP and I agree with the PP. One party is way more corrupted than the other, and I don't see what you think you're accomplishing by shouting about "both sides" on every thread.

This is why we need to have a cognitive ability test before allowing people to vote. Yes, these were used before to prevent people from voting but this is a different era. Technology and medicine have advanced to a point that allows people to mask their deficiencies. People can also vote absentee but there's no guarantee that they are actually the ones voting if they are mentally incapacitated. Plus, there's also the case of Diane Feinstein.
The debate seems to be who is more senile, Biden or Chump. But should either of them, or many others in this country, be allowed to vote? We wouldn't want them as our Uber driver. Please don't cite the constitution or court cases because many of these laws are written poorly.
There has been a small faction of low IQ and/or mentally unfit people voting since the inception of our nation. It wasn't until recently that we, collectively, forgot what a real president was. Most of the Trump/Biden voters are actually intelligent high-functioning normal people who contribute to society. They just got forced into political bubbles of nonsense hate by the well-crafted messaging campaigns of our awful political parties.
We have been divided and conquered by the wealthy financial backers of our two corrupt political parties. We can only take back control over our Federal Government by working together as a united people of a great nation.
I guarantee there are now exponentially more (millions) of people unfit to vote because of mind-altering drug and alcohol addiction, mental disease, low intelligence, old age, medicine, and technology. These people can be easily manipulated or coerced. When elections are so close to begin with these days, that number is well within the margin.
