The whole debacle and downfall began with what appears to have been empty promises when they had bought FCV. That led to the whole program falling apart and coaches going their separate ways. Now they're going in on Football while also trying to run a national level soccer program with not a lot of resources field wise.

They promised soccer fields for years and got burnt by VRSC lol.
Have you been to Springfield? The facilities are quite nice. Full ice rink, basketball courts, swimming, batting cages, tennis, performance training. There is nothing else like it in the DMV.
Soccer facilities? not a big priority for their academy. there isn’t a lot of money in it

Flag football is on the rise, which is fine of course for flag football/ sports families. But the problem that will further stymie the ST James FC (at the St James in Springfield) will be the increased competition for space in their field house -which cuts the size and availability for soccer players to use the space.
Not talking flag, they just hired a big name local HS coach, they're shooting to build a program like IMG has it appears. The question is, where are the resources? They have no space for all of this.
St James is a private for profit business that has been operating successfully for 7 years. I'm sure they hired a big name coach and put out press announcements without giving any thought to how the space will work. In businesses these things are planned out long in advance before they get funded. You have no idea of their business plan, nor should you because you don't work there. It's either arrogance or ignorance on your part to make comments on their business strategy from the cheap seats. I vote for the latter.
7 years is not an impressive length of time to stay in business. This football news is foolish at best and I venture to predict that it will bite them in the ass.
Ok Mr Business. It's not very difficult to see the strategy. It is part of their "academy" that began last year. Basically a private prep school for athletes of many sports: soccer, lacrosse, hockey, volleyball, baseball, and now football. There is a lot of money in football and bringing in an accomplished high school coach will attract athletes looking to get recruited to college. There are many of these around the country but nothing in the DMV area. It may or may not be successful but if you have the money to invest like St James, they are in as good a position as anyone in the DMV to build something like this given their facilities and existing programs.
