Do I have that right?

That's how I see it too. They were married for a long time and have three kids(!)

She is leaving HIM! So no, you don't have it right.

Do you think my Beverly Hills SAHM helps with any of those things? Lol. Trust me, she still has nannies or a family assistant for kids those ages.

I totally believe that, but I don’t think Kevin Costner is obligated to provide financial support to allow her to sit on her @ss all day while family assistants and nannies deal with their teens.

I used to work weekends in the area, and I’d bring all my food from LA in a cooler because everything is so expensive. $20k a month (after rent) for someone like her, really is nothing. This is going to be a huge lifestyle adjustment. Even gas is crazy expensive!!

I know this is a wild take, but she doesn’t work. She has zero need for nannies, housekeepers, or assistants.

Her kids are also 16, 14 and 13, wtf would she need a nanny for?!

Driving to after school athletics, organizing the kids, etc. You have no idea how these people live.

She doesn’t work so what the eff else is she doing all day?!

I agree as well. Men like him make me sick. The only reason I don’t feel sorry for her, though, is that he had already done this to his first wife (left her after she was old enough to have finished raising his kids and then went and started over with a younger woman and made a totally new family).

Not saying she did anything wrong, but that was a flashing red sign that this man is trash who does not want his wife to be his partner in life.

He offered her 40k a month.
I don’t think posters here understand how much a crazy change that would be for her. It would mean moving to a completely different town, and would absolutely impact the kids.

Sure, if you’re totally insane.

Not a strong rebuttal there…

He is acting like a pluperfect JERK. No amount of spin will change that fact.

ITA. He wouldn’t even notice $15-20M and she’d still have to adjust her lifestyle downward. The kids will notice her drastic lifestyle change and blame their dad for not taking care of her.

The kids will know that all the money comes from dad cause mom does nothing but spend and lounge around the house all day.

Do you really think Kevin wanted her to work? I sympathize with Christine. I've been a SAHM for 20 years. DH does not want me to work. i've tried. I'm not married to someone as rich as Costner, but can relate on some level. Men like this want you to be available for whatever their needs are. They care about your looks a lot. They also see everyone as replaceable and upgradable, especially when you are menopause age. I'm so glad I refused to sign a prenup. She should be getting half of everything accrued during their marriage.

I hope you didn’t have daughters. What a terrible marriage for them to witness.

DCUM celeb nanny again - Most of the families I work for (where the dad is the celeb) the mums don’t work… and they have 2-3 nannies, a family assistant, estate manager, personal assistant, chef, and grounds keepers. In additional to personal trainers, masseuse, hair stylists, manicurists, and facialists (who come to the property for treatments) etc. Not working doesn’t mean she won’t want to have these types of services.

Tough shit. She’s no longer married to the dad. She can get a job and pay for her own “wants” instead of stealing from her children’s CS so that she doesn’t have to drive kids to activities, go the grocery store, clean her house etc. Oh and my fav - make her/the kids schedules.

I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just saying this is how these delusional people live. I personally think it’s pretty pathetic, but hey, they pay my bills!

I mean, she WAS married to him a significant amount of time and the kids did get used to a certain lifestyle in life.

It would be unfair for them to live a less than ideal lifestyle just because their parents are divorcing in my opinion.

However since they are all teenagers now - Kevin’s ex would only get her support for no more than five years.
After that, she will be entirely on her own.

It seems yesterday in court Kevin got his wish and his monthly support amount was lowered.
I am sure Christina is not happy w/the amount being cut in half (looks like she will have to find a rental less than $40,000/month) but she is fortunate to have five figures a month as a single mother.

This happens to divorcing families and their kids every day of the year. Divorce is not ideal, period.

Oh my lawd!!! What is she going to do when she figures out the child support ends in 5 years.
