That’s the thing. Like so many VA lame duck governors, there is no big deal from a governance standpoint. From the vantage point of a centrist northern Virginian, I want decent services, roads getting paved up here and not road to nowhere projects in non-trafficked areas, and the state staying out of my uterus. As someone originally from another state, Virginia has decent services, moderate taxes, and pretty moderate on social issues. We know McAullife does those things. Youngkin in a new model “Republican”, which means it’s just anti-science, anti-logic, not-actually-Conservative nonsense. Just like I voted for Biden, I wish the dems had come up with a better candidate, but it is what it is.

But on a Presidential front, he would be a no hoper. He’s tied to the worst of the Clintons behaviors, and he’s a hack. The VA candidate that could go far is Mark Warner.

NoVa doesn't have decent services any longer. The public schools, in particular, are a debacle. I can't think of a single public school system with Arlington's wealth that's as consistently underwhelming as APS; FCPS is too big and inefficient, and controlled by wacky left-wing nutters; and LCPS is a case study in mediocrity and crisis mismanagement.

McAuliffe means four more years of this. Youngkin at least has the potential to shake things up and focus on quality academics again.

Has a Republican Governor “shaking things up” EVER resulted in better quality academics in any state?

We will end up like Mississippi.

Well at least Mississippi pays their teachers better than VA!!! 50th in teacher pay.

So stop painting Virginians as extreme right pro life marching single issue voter crazy trains. We’re not.

Well said.

I think you are forgetting about the GOP/Trump supporters outside of NoVa.

Uh, Trump is not on the ballot in Virginia. Did you not know that?

Uh, PP didn't say he was.

GOP and Trump supporters will absolutely be voting for Youngkin.

Trump is actively campaigning for Youngkin.

Youngkin welcomed Trump's endorsement.

Youngkin actively has pushed Trump's lie about "election integrity".

Youngkin is a Trump Republican.

The GOP is actively pushing to restrict voters' rights.

The GOP is actively pushing to restrict women's rights.

Youngkin has NEVER said that the Biden did not legitimately win the 2020 election. He has been asked this several times and not once did he ever say the election was ridged or false.

Trump has never campaigned with Youngkin. He has never been at any rally or event in Virginia for him. Ever. Sure there is some sort of telly rally (whatever that is) but that's it.

This is a state wide election. This is not a national or federal election. Virginians want people from the other 49 states to but out! STOP using us and our election as your prop or stage for whatever national or personal agenda you have. Stop trying to make dots connect that aren't even close. Most Virginians can't stand Trump. He didn't win in 2016 or 2020 there. Trump barely even campaigned in Virginia for 2020 because of it.

I cannot stand people with no real connection to Virginia (they aren't from here, work here, live here) barging in to take advantage of the political moment for their own personal or professional or political gain, taking advantage of the people who do live here, and then come Wednesday they're gone on to their next big thing and we are all still sitting here having to deal with whatever happens. Stay home.

Also no one pays any attention to Amanda Chase, she's a nut job.

Uh, this election is bigger than you idiot bumpkins in the inbred parts of the state. That’s why so many of us who don’t live in Virginia are so concerned about it and are sending as much money as we can to TM. Because in order to protect Progressivism anywhere, we have to protect it everywhere. This isn’t just about you, you ignorant hillbilly.

We DON'T WANT progressivism. Look at what it's done to NYC and DC. Go protect progressivism in your own state. -Hillibilly from Arlington.

You realize that NYC is literally the economic engine of this country, right?

No, they don’t. They only care about their guns, owning the libs, freedumbs and flying their confederate flags.

I mean you keep telling yourself that - that anyone voting GOP or not wanting progressivism is inbred, gun toting, flying a confederate flag, and living in a mountain town of 1000 people 3 hrs west of Richmond and dating their cousin. But reality is I'm def considering a Youngkin vote - Arlington resident; 10+ years on Wall Street living in NYC before moving here 5 years ago; ivy grad; not white and not Christian; blah blah. YOU are the reason why Trump won - YOU ALL have decided you know everything about everything and anyone who doesn't fit in your exact vision must be an inbred gun toting hillbilly with an 8th grade education and you can just ignore them. Hate to break it to you but that isn't the case. Do you think the statistical tie between Youngkin and McA right now breaks down just into confederate flag fliers vs. NoVA? You realize the lack of population density in southern/western Va makes that impossible right? Do you not think Youngkin has made inroads in NoVa amongst people who may not even own a gun, who may have voted Dem many times before?

And I’m sure you display that yard sign proudly.

Yeah, I’ll bet it’s illuminated at night by tiki torches. Or maybe a little, tiny burning cross.

No looks like Dems are the only ones buying Tiki Torches. Such a good look.

Oh, and what would Youngkin be incarcerated for? Again, genuinely asking. IIRC, Terry is the only one on this year’s ballot who has been investigated by the FBI.

I'll give Youngkin credit for one thing - he's very good at talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Before the Virginia state nominating convention Youngkin refused to say that Biden was legitimately elected. But it wasn't until after May 10, when he became the GOP nominee, that finally said that Biden's election was legitimate. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/may/19/glenn-youngkin/youngkin-shifts-position-legitimacy-bidens-electio/

He's done the same dance with Trump and January 6. And look at the undercover video where he says the opposite about abortion from what he says in public. I do not trust him - Youngkin will say whatever will help him in the moment.

Youngkin is no Larry Hogan.

Is this what you see republicans doing? Listening to what the other side has to say? Not seeing a lot of that myself.

You seem like yet another Republican who wants respect and understanding that you do not intend to offer in return.

Boom.

Silence.
